Say hello to the umbrella girl for 2009, Michelle Westby

Introducing Michelle Westby, the new face of Time Attack and the Need For Speed European Championship. She’s not just a pretty face though, the 21-year old confesses to being a tomboy at heart with petrol running through her veins.

 

 

We hear you’re a car nut then? So what do you drive?

 I’ve got an SW20 MR2 at the moment and I love it. It’s not a turbo though as I couldn’t get insured on one when I bought this four years ago. It’s a later P-reg one though, but I’d like to get a T-bar turbo one day. For now I’m trying to find an exhaust for it.

You should have a word with Uncle Adrian at Fensport then.

How did you become to face of Time Attack/EDC?

I was lucky enough to win a competition held at Snetterton

Are you from Norfolk then?

No, Stevenage in Hertfordshire

How excited were you to win?

Very excited. I love the scene anyway so it’s great to watch it all while working! It’s not always easy to walk around circuits like Knockhill in heels though!

Would you ever like to drive in these events?

Yes, one hundred percent. I drift accidentally a lot! I’d love to try a drift school at some point soon. I’m also thinking about taking my motorbike test, but I’m a nutter in a car so I don’t know!

Really?

Yeah, my dad broke the grab handle in my car after I took him for a drive because he was holding on so tightly!

You really are a bit of a tomboy aren’t you?

I love the need for speed. I was collecting toy cars when I was growing up. I  may have to make myself up a bit but inside I am a tomboy.

Excellent. And if you, as the face of Time Attack/EDC ruled the world, what one law would you bring in?

Easy. No speed cameras because I got caught by one the other day!
