Vehicle Classes

The Time Attack Series is dedicated to representing the aftermarket scene and to providing a relevant motorsport to those within the scene. As a result we have formulated various classes within Time Attack that allow us to accommodate almost every level of driver and car type/marque and class them into a category that is fitting for that level, making any achievement relevant, substantial and meaningful and more importantly- sporting.
Time Attack is open to ALL marques. Contrary to popular belief Time Attack is not just for the high-end tuner cars with large budgets (of course we do attract such cars) and since Time Attack was introduced to this country in 2005 we have worked hard to formulate classes from the guy on the street to the tuners within the ultra competitive aftermarket scene. For 2009 we have three classes that allow competitors to enter a class that suits there ability, car type and investment and below is an explanation of the Club Challenge, Club Pro and Pro Classes:
Club Challenge Class
By its very name it is aimed at the Club enthusiast who has spent time and money developing their road going cars for use on the track, sometimes these vehicles are dual purpose and are competitors daily drivers whereas some are specific track vehicles tha are transported to the events.
The Club Challenge Class does have vehicle technical and safety regulations that must be adhered to and these can be found here.
Club Challenge also has five classes within it that allows entrants to choose a class they would like to compete in and these classes are as follows:
Four Wheel Drive (4WD)
Front Wheel Drive (FWD)
Rear Wheel Drive (RWD)
*Normally Aspirated – 3000cc and under
*Normall Aspirated – 3001cc and above
*These classes are not governed by drive train.
Entrants may only compete within one class (for points and trophies) and must choose the class prior to entering the Series/event(s).
Club Pro Class
The next step up from Club Challenge is the Club Pro Class. Vehicles and competitors within this class have proven themselves too fast for the Club Challenge Class. Except for the use of Methanol this class has no technical restrictions but vehicles are required to have a higher level of safety equipment and these can be found here.
This Class does not have drivetrain catergories.
Privateers and professional teams are allowed to enter Club Pro. From a drivers perspective they are required to have passed a test for a MSA National ‘B’ Race licence.
Pro Class
This is mainly where the tuning companies come out to commence battle with their awesome machinery and this Class has now become the benchmark for tuners to showcase exactly what they can achieve with a lot of the top machines putting down lap times that are faster that that seen within BTCC and other established racing formulae.
Drivers must hold a minimum of a National ‘B’ race licence and any competitor wishing to enter this Class who hold a licence higher than a National B will automatically be placed in Pro Class. Many tuners choose to use ‘hired guns’ which can be drivers from BTCC, British GT or other racing formulae although in some cases the tuners do driver their own cars. Quite a lot of the tuners R&D parts for the use in customers road cars and when you see a tuenr car being used within Time Attack you can be assured the parts being used may well end up on yours or a customers car one day.
This Class does not have drivetrain catergories.
Again the use of Methanol is banned but apart from that certain technical regulations also apply and these can be found here.
All drivers within Time Attack, irrespective of Class entered, must also adhere to regulations regarding apparel that must be worn and these regualtions can be found here.
If you are unsure of any technical or apparel requirements relating to any of the three classes above then please contact scrutineer@timeattack.co.uk in the first instance.
