This is it, the ultimate of all the Time Attack categories where almost anything goes. Previously named the Pro Extreme Class, it is was introduced to cater for the constructors and teams that push their designs and creations beyond the envelope and one-trick Time Attack cars without boundaries. Here you’ll see the likes of Norris Designs and Roger Clark Motorsport – circuit lap record breaking machines with that one purpose in mind.
Provided it resembles a model above the waistline that was a type-approved road vehicle at some point in time, then the car is eligible. The regulations allow for spaceframes, silhouettes, reconfigured chassis and no power or aero limitations whatsoever. Although the class is split into sub-classes for two and four-wheel-drive cars, the unrestricted nature of the machine means the driveline configuration is often rendered irrelevant and the two sub divisions are usually amalgamated to produce one top-level of competition.
Even though they exceed the traditional specifications of competition cars, Invitation creations must be built our strict class rules. Consequently, a safety cage, plumbed-in extinguisher system, external ignition cut-out, in-date seats and a five-point harness are required.
Due to the freedom of design, Invitational cars do not have to have a passenger seat or full dashboard, which is a requirement for all other Time Attack classes. They may also run alternative fuels, including racing blends and the addition of methanol for example.
On the driver side, you’ll need the correct personal safety kit such as helmet, race suit, gloves and boots and you’ll need to apply for your Motorsport UK licence (no ARDS test required). Before you compete, your car will be scrutineered to confirm it meets the safety requirements and the relevant Invitation class rules. All of the detail you’ll need — including eligibility, required items, and what modifications are permitted — is set out in the official regulations linked lower down this page, and our team is always on hand if you’d like a steer, especially if it’s your first time in a competitive setting.
For this class you may only enter as non-point scoring /non championship status which means we do not crown a class champion, only recognise lap time performance at each event ( record breaking ). However for any records to stand as official, you’ll need to run the championship control tyre: the Yokohama slick or wet tyres, otherwise you can use your existing slick/wet tyres and any time, void in term of official status.
This class is for the highest level car builds for record breaking,
The class is our ultimate ‘Time Attack car ‘.
All competitors take part in four 15-minute (minimum) on-track sessions within their class: Warm-Up, Attack 1, Attack 2 and Super Attack.
This format gives drivers multiple opportunities to refine setup and push for their quickest lap of the event, building towards the decisive Super Attack session.
Across the season, competitors perform in front of tens of thousands of spectators as the championship headlines on-track at major automotive events including Modified Live, Tunerfest, JDM Jam, GO Japan and the Obsession Car Show, providing a fantastic platform to showcase driving ability, engineering expertise and partner brands.
If you’re looking for competitive, accessible motorsport with plenty of track time, strong exposure and an unforgettable season of racing, the Time Attack Championship is the perfect place to compete.
